smartcard-based secure printing solution
SecureJet offers you ultimate printing security that protects and encrypts your print jobs
all the way from your application to the controlled delivery to paper from desktop, laptops
and even palmtops.
You take great care to secure the creation, storage and communication of your valuable
information. However, too often the printing process is the weakest link in your data security.
Just consider how accessible information is on its way through the network, while it is
waiting in the printer's out tray, or if it gets "lost" among other print jobs. Without comprehensive
protection, control and tracking your proprietary and confidential information is vulnerable
to unauthorized copying, reading and manipulation, threatening your corporate competitiveness
and posing a significant liability risk.
SecureJet is a printing solution that looks after your information from the moment
you press the print button, and makes sure that it ends up only in the right hands. JetCAPS
SecureJet requires no modification to the existing network, and does not interfere with any
other aspect of the printer's functionality, so you do not have to sacrifice the savings and
convenience that network printing means to your organisation.
how SecureJet works
Once the SecureJet solution and the appropriate driver have been installed,
MS Windows, Pocket PC, linux or HP-UX applications offer to secure any printouts. The user
can designate for whom the print job is intended, and whether or not it should be encrypted
before leaving the computer of origin. The SecureJet firmware, on a DIMM in the
printer, stores incoming secured print jobs on the printer's FSA hard disk. Nothing further
happens until the designated person reclaims the print job either by entering their PIN code
or inserting their personal SmartCard into the printer's SecureJet terminal and then entering
their PIN code.
If the print job needs to be decrypted this is done only while printing - so even data on the
hard disk gets the maximum protection. The verification of the decryption detects if the data
is intentionally or unintentionally altered, guaranteeing data integrity.
